the Hotwalls
Summary by Len Neighbors
Hailing from Detroit, MI, the Hotwalls play energetic pop. Consisting of Ryan Milligan (vocals), Jarrod Champion (drums), Nathan Miller (bass), and Gabriel Doman (guitar), the Hotwalls are playing the Athens PopFest for the first time.
This is the kind of band that causes dancing. They got their name from the poor electrical grounding of their first practice space, so they've always tried to keep one step away from a blowout. We expect an exciting show from a band that will fill Little Kings with sound.
Five Questions with the Hotwalls
1. What are your five desert island records?
Descendents "Milo Goes to College", Beatles "Beatles VI", James Brown "Live at the Apollo 2 (Deluxe Edition)", Ramones "Pleasant Dreams" and Fugazi "Red Medicine"
2. Could you classify your sound for people who haven't heard it before?
Our sound can be generally categorized as power pop or indie rock. Though with the breadth of our influences, other styles are bound to pop up.
3. What is your favorite place to play, and why?
I don't think we have played in enough venues to discern a favorite.
4. What is the weirdest thing you take on tour?
Nothing weird taken on tour. Although I do have to try and hit all the Flying J truck stops; they're my favorite!
5. What should people expect from your Athens PopFest performance?
People should expect a high-energy set delivered with the utmost sincerity. We aim to please. And we'll knock your socks on their ass!
