Velcro Stars
Summary by Kathryn Durfee
Velcro Stars are made up of Shane Spresser, Keith Pratt, Rebekah Kidd, Jonathan Brock, and Aaron Distler of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This indie pop band began with Columbia natives Shane and Keith playing guitar and writing songs together following their graduation from high school. In 2001, their friend Rebekah joined them when they moved to Murfreesboro to attend MTSU. That year also saw the addition of bassist Danial. And last but not least, drummer Andy joined the group in 2005.
Their latest album "Hiroshima's Revenge," a collaborative effort between Grand Palace Records and Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records, was released in February of 2007. Velcro Stars received rave reviews for the album; Tennessee publications celebrated the group's music as "catchy, head-bobbying indie rock."
This year will be the Velcro Stars’ third appearance at Athens PopFest.
