Abstract thinking time: throw into a bag Pylon, Sound Horses, Caspar and the Cookies, and Bob Hay & the Jolly Beggar’s. Shake. Stir. Amalgamate. Arise Supercluster. This aptly titled band, mostly comprised of Athens scenesters, began in 2007 as a recording project with gigging on the side.
Supercluster’s slower pace emits a mellow-ness that should not be discounted as dreary innocuousness. While the curt listener may hold fast to the primacy of a subdued tempo, epicureans will find salivation in musical layering that could only be crafted from a studio focus and experience. Not too jarring, weird or dare-we-say avant-garde, Supercluster strides on a haunting artiness in the nova of post-punk.
