Night Driving in Small Towns

Night Driving in Small Towns has experienced a growing fanbase due to its recognition as one of Rolling Stone's "Top 25 Bands on MySpace." The band is made up of five friends from around the state of Georgia, giving Night Driving in Small Towns a varied and eclectic style.
Night Driving in Small Towns currently consists of Andrea Rogers, Colby Wright, Daniel Gonzalez, Sage Cady, and Tyler Shores. Together, they produce music that ranges from pop, new wave, acoustic, and bluegrass-inspired folk.
2008 marks Night Driving in Small Towns's first appearance at Athens PopFest.
Five Questions with Night Driving in Small Towns
1. What are your five desert island records?
The Beatles - "Abbey Road"; Rilo Kiley - "Take-Offs & Landings"; Blind Melon - "Soup"; Metric - "Grow Up and Blow Away"; Radiohead - "Hail to the Thief"
2. Could you classify your sound for people who haven't heard it before?
Light, bubbly and fun -- like champagne, minus the headache.
The singer has been compared to Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley, and the music ranges from indie-pop to alt-country.
3. What is your favorite place to play, and why?
We played at Eddie's Attic recently, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. We really prefer to play smaller indoor venues because the atmosphere lends itself to listening. Your music means something; it's not just background noise in a smoky bar. Bars are fun, too, but it can be frustrating to settle for being background music.
4. What is the weirdest thing you take on tour?
A fake owl that sometimes stands on or near the drum set. It cost 50 cents, but it really ties the kit together.
5. What should people expect from your Athens PopFest performance?
A fun vibe, catchy original tunes, and a really nice group of people playing their hearts out.
