The sixpiece Athens band is a staple of the local music scene and it would be morbidly wrong to hold a festival called Popfest without including them. All members of the band have come from a background of other projects, and their music is evidence of that experience and dedication.

The much anticipated debut album “Love It Love It” was released earlier this year, and it delivers. Bigtime. Think Bright Eyes without the cocaine shakes or Neutral Milk Hotel without the eerie-ness. The horn section and the earnest vocals will have you hooked from the very beginning. If you haven’t been fortunate enough to catch Nana Grizol live already, this is your chance. This will be the band’s second Popfest.

1. What are your five desert island records?

2. Could you classify your sound for people who haven't heard it before?

3. What is your favorite place to play, and why?

The Tinderbox in Brattleboro, VT, and the Trumbullplex in Detroit, MI are both amazing all ages spaces with a very strong sense of community... And there are a good number of folks involved with those spaces doing some really cool stuff! .. There are so many cool places we've gotten to play.. Once we played a generator show outside at our friends' house.. The horn section was raised up on a stairway and the keyboard was in the back of a pickup truck.. AND it was our other friends LANDLORD's first show.. We'd do that again no problem.

4. What is the weirdest thing you take on tour?

I dunno' but my favorite thing is our '87 diesel Econoline 350.. Favorite thing besides us being our dear friends who thoroughly enjoy spending some time together, and our jams, too.. And energy's a big one...

5. What should people expect from your Athens PopFest performance?

Definitely for us to look really really good, and play a new jam or 2, we might have a banner by then.
