Popfest newbies Man Factory consists of a group of friends from Arlington, Texas who started as bike gang before developing into a pop rock group. It seems they have their hands in everything, including video games. They’re rock opera “Street Fighter Rock Opera Round 1,” based on the game Streetfighter II, is available for free download on their myspace page.

In addition to their many other talents, Man Factory pumps out some pretty catchy tunes comparable to early Weezer hits. And, in fact, they might even fill the void left in your heart by the death of Ozma. They’d also like you to know that each of them can lift twice their own body weight. I’m not sure why that’s relevant, but perhaps their live show will give us a clue.

1. What are your five desert island records?

oh no, how did we get there? will we be ok? those five pink floyd albums that were painted on those naked women. or just that poster, i guess.

2. Could you classify your sound for people who haven't heard it before?

early weezer hits. and ozma dying.

3. What is your favorite place to play, and why?

the theater with the magic show at six flags. we've got a limited engagement there. shows run daily from 10am to 5pm. we play between the magic.

4. What is the weirdest thing you take on tour?

snakes

5. What should people expect from your Athens PopFest performance?

to be bored, and for no one to be there.
