Summary by Carrie Dagenhard

The Atlanta duo is composed of Baron Saturday and P.G. Tripps, two multi-instrumentalists who have created a sound of dada-inspired electro funk. The band uses a wide range of instruments, both electronic and otherwise. Their live show, which includes colored lights and neon getups, is sure to inspire collective uninhibited dancing.

Far from the lazy computerized electronic music that has saturated dance parties for years, Judi Chicago brings forth a sound and performance that is anything but predictable. This is the band’s first PopFest, and they’re more than ready to make you sweat.

Five Questions with Judi Chicago

1. What are your five desert island records?

5 of a possible million...

1: Chic - C'est Chic
2: Happy Mondays - Bummed
3: Orbital - Snivilisation
4: The Meters - The Meters
5: Hawkwind - Doremi Faso Latido

2. Could you classify your sound for people who haven't heard it before?

It's like having a man you've never met before who might be a bit mental has got you cornered in a club and is shouting something over the music. You can't quite make out all the words, but it doesn't completely make sense and you're worried that he's either going to try to put something in your drink, or up your arse.

3. What is your favorite place to play, and why?

Parties / Clubs. Anywhere condusive to dancing, particularly with a booming PA.

4. What is the weirdest thing you take on tour?

We don't go anywhere without electric bongos at the moment... We also occasionally get the nose flute out, when the Baron is in the mood.

5. What should people expect from your Athens PopFest performance?

We don't know what will happen until it starts. Probably sounds, words and movements. Not necessarily in that order, and possibly all at once. If you are too cool to dance, you can fuck off.
