Hailing from Manchester, UK, Hotpants Romance wins the award for longest travel to Popfest. The band plays what I like to call “fun punk.” With guitar work evocative of The Ramones or Joan Jett coupled with chaotic vocals, the female power trio also has the DIY element of punk down pat. Lively and colorful, their latest album makes you want to rock out in your undies with an air guitar—or grab a couple friends and start a band. These ladies make it look easy. And with the party-type atmosphere their music evokes, their live performance will force you out of your indie shoe-gazing slump for sure. Hotpants Romance has been jamming since 2005, but this will be their very first Popfest.
