Elf Power
Summary by Gordon Lamb
Elf Power got its start in the early 1990’s when Andrew Regier and selected friends began making 4-track recordings. Although founder Reiger and compatriot Laura Carter briefly moved to New York circa 1995 or so they soon returned to Athens and, really, at no time has Athens not been a major part of Elf Power’s identity.
At 13 years old Elf Power has outlasted most of the other Elephant 6 bands but has never lost its commitment to being a project among friends. Further, Elf Power is not terribly different today than it was over a decade ago. The band still plays a highly literate folky-pop with the occasional foray into glam-y fuzziness. Although the band is a long time supporter of the Athens PopFest this year will be their first appearance as an official Athens PopFest artist.
