Summary by Casey DeHoedt

Allison Weiss is a singer/songwriter hailing from Athens Georgia. Her acoustic guitar, dreamy lyrics and sweetly exposed voice waxes nostalgic for the ole days of leisurely lattes and romances satisfied by “just holding hands.” Weiss began playing various Athens venues in 2005. In 2007 Allison released her first album An Eight Song Tribute to Feeling Bad & Feeling Better. Now in 2008, Weiss is backed with a band that adds a gauzy beauty to her space of honest introspection and carefree joyousness.

Weiss and the gang can be seen at Popfest on August 12th, at Cine.

Five Questions with Allison Weiss

1. What are your five desert island records?

Neutral Milk Hotel, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
The Sounds, Dying to Say This to You
Rilo Kiley, The Execution of All Things
Elliott Smtih, Either/Or
Aly & AJ, Insomniatic

2. Could you classify your sound for people who haven't heard it before?

Catchy indie pop with a hint of folk and a ton of self deprecation.

3. What is your favorite place to play, and why?

Tie between 40 Watt (for the sound system) and Flicker Theatre (for the intimate atmosphere).

4. What is the weirdest thing you take on tour?

Typography books. I'm a graphic design nerd.

5. What should people expect from your Athens PopFest performance?

As my drummer Donovan Babb would say, we're going to "take it to the next level."
