"As the nomads conquer Caledonia, I'll be sibyl on my sofa."
Casey is a master’s student in musicology also working on a certificate in women’s studies. Mostly her research centers on gender politics in rock music, peppered with persona theory, and spiced with a dash of Marxism (particularly Frankfurt theory). Notable research projects include “Reasons to be Beautiful:’ Courtney Love and Subjectivity” and “The Arrival of a New Renegade:’ Riot Grrrl and D.I.Y.” In 2005 she received her B.A. in music and communication studies from Central College in Pella, IA. Additionally, Casey is the founder and editor of “Paper Doll” zine, and the guitarist and songwriter for the band The Fish Schticks. Casey’s journalism background includes writing for the Central College Ray where she won second place for her editorial “Recruiting Diversity, Punkers vs. White Bread,” and second place for a video segment from the Iowa College Media Association Awards. In her free time Casey amasses artists (which, sadly, does not necessarily imply listening to a bunch of artists), making playlists, writing, watching movies - and recently - baking cakes. |
