Tired of the same old Athens restaurants day in and day out? Then Amici Italian Cafe is your place, whether you're looking to dine in, take out or get delivery. Located on Clayton Street in the heart of downtown Athens, the restaurant caters to college students looking for a hand-tossed pizza and wings to go with an ice-cold beer.

Amici is open daily for lunch and dinner. The bar is always open and ready to serve, and stays open till 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The casual setting is a great place for a date or to hang out with friends. There is an outdoor patio ideal for people watching and relaxing after a long day. Inside, the restaurant offers two big rooms with a bar. Diners can choose their perfect seat.

The menu offers a wide array of items. Amici has a ton of specialty pizzas, or you can build your own. You can order by the slice or choose a small, medium or large. There are huge side and dinner salads, as well as sandwiches served with chips or pasta salad. The menu also features common Italian pasta dishes. The pastas are more expensive than most of the items, but still affordable. The average cost of a meal for two with a tip would be around $25.

Amici is a full service restaurant. The service was adequate with minimal interruptions.

During the week, Amici offers daily specials to help out your wallet. On Monday, you can buy a pasta or sandwich and get the second half off. Happy hour, all day on Tuesday, makes the week go by. Tuesday is also the place to be for Texas Hold 'Em poker. Wednesdays are known for their 35 cent wings. If you have a date on Thursday, half off wine night with a delicious plate of pasta will definitely be a winner. Instead of hitting up your typical bar on Fridays, try dollar off martinis at Martini Night. When Saturday rolls around, grab some friends and check out their Margarita Night.

The local music scene has also made its way to Amici; generally, local artists play in the restaurant on the weekends. The shows are for all ages and there usually is no cover. If you'd like to play at Amici or are looking for upcoming shows, check out their MySpace Page.

Next time you’re looking for a different place to eat, come down to Clayton Street with your amici and head to Amici Italian Cafe.
