Love, Death, and Urination: UGA Presents Musical Urinetown

How many times a day do you urinate? Now, how many times a day would you urinate if you had to pay for it? Unbelievable, right? In Urinetown, it is reality.
Urinetown: The Musical depicts the corporate takeover of the public toilet system. After years of drought, the Urine Good Company (UGC) began taxing people to pee, making it a privilege rather than a right.
The story centers on Bobby Strong, who works at Public Amenity Number 9. After his father is carted away to "Urinetown" for violating the outrageous laws of the UGC, Bobby meets and falls in love with Hope, the daughter of Caldwell B. Cladwell, President of UGC. Hope encourages Bobby to follow his heart. He does by taking over Amenity Number 9 and leading the revolt against the corporate masters of whiz.
Urinetown is a story of love, death, corporate corruption and, of course, urination. It is neither comedic nor dramatic, it just is. Urinetown presents its concepts in a straight forward, take-it-or-leave-it manner, making it wonderfully entertaining.
The first three performances have been met with much praise, thanks to an all-star cast, amazing design team, and the outstanding direction of Mirla Criste, director and choreographer, and Rachel Townes, musical director. The University of Georgia Department of Theatre is presenting Urinetown: The Musical November 13-16 at 8 PM and November 18 at 2:30 PM. Tickets for students are $12 and $15 for the public.
So, if you have spare time, go see Urinetown: The Musical and realize that you should not take your pissing privileges for granted.
