GOLDEN GLOBES 2010: Predicting the Nominees

Tuesday, December 15, the nominees will be announced for the Golden Globe awards. I'm never up-to-date with television, and there's way too many shows to watch, so I won't even bother with those nominees. Instead, I'll focus on who I think will get nominated in the motion picture categories, which is what the awards show is really about anyway.

Tom Hooper, The Damned United

I was hesitant to spend the little money I had left post-Black Friday on a movie I didn’t know too much about. Sports movies are typically hit-or-miss, and except for The Big Green (which isn’t exactly a masterpiece), I hadn’t seen or even known of too many other films centered around soccer. And yet, Athens’ Cine theatre was only showing the film for one more night, and I decided to bite the bullet. I’m glad I did. Very glad indeed. [read more...]
